Cutwater Spirits operates out of San Diego, California, where the distillery houses a 35-foot Vendome column still and a dedicated hybrid pot-and-column rig used for rum production. The Tiki Rum Mai Tai blends Cutwater’s own Barrel Aged Rum with Bali Hai Tiki Gold Rum—a spirit distilled from pure cane sugar that itself took Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. That multi-rum foundation is what separates this canned cocktail from lighter, single-rum RTD alternatives: the barrel-aged component adds depth, while the gold rum brings brightness and tropical character.
