Description
Green River Distilling Co. was founded by John W. McCulloch in 1885 in Owensboro, Kentucky. The distillery, DSP-KY-10, is the 10th oldest licensed distillery in the state and became home to McCulloch’s famous Green River, a whiskey known far and wide for its quality. Sadly, at the height of Green River’s popularity, a fire broke out on the distillery grounds. In just three hours, most of the buildings and whiskey barrels were reduced to rubble. The distillery was rebuilt, but Prohibition was passed, and McCulloch wouldn’t live to restore Green River to glory. In the following decades, the distillery passed hands on several occasions. Today Green River bourbon is distilled by Master Distiller Jacob Call, an eighth-generation distiller and Kentuckian. Call’s family distilling history stretches back to the earliest days of bourbon when his ancestor Samuel Call distilled whiskey on his Kentucky farm in the late 1700s. Green River was known for its quality whiskey, and Call and his team are proud to bring the same commitment to distilling Green River bourbon today. Green River Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is 90 proof and aged a minimum of five years at the Green River Distillery in Owensboro.
